SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER 


An exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer
 to work on the next generation of metal powder atomising equipment for the rapidly expanding industry of additive manufacture (3D Printing).

Working within the engineering team, the Electrical design engineer will be responsible for the design and support of the Electrical power and control systems for our latest machines. The ideal candidate will have experience in both electrical design and PLC control.

PSI are a market leader in this sector with over 30 years of experience, seeing rapid growth over recent years. 

Job Specification

The successful candidate will

  • Core skills and responsibilities to include: 
  • Electrical system design using AutoCad Electrical – 3 Phase and Single Phase power, 24 VDC, 4-20mA, 0-10 VDC, Ethernet, Modbus, CC-Link etc
  • Electrical design of Control Systems
  • Detailed design and specification for manufacture
  • Analogue instrumentation including Thermocouples, Pressure transducers, Gas flow meters, Pump (pressure and Vacuum) controls, Motor inverters and Heating controls
  • Digital control of Valves, SOV’s, Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • PLC systems (Mitsubishi Q Series, Pro-Face, Siemens or similar) with remote I/O
  • HMI integration (Mitsubishi or similar)
  • Modular design of systems for cost saving and ease of installation
  • Hands-on setup, testing and fault finding of control systems, in the factory and the field
  • Manages own work load

 

  • An appreciation of large engineering Capex projects involving a variety of engineering techniques associated with the type of advanced material processing capital equipment we manufacture is highly desirable
  • Delivery of Design Modules according to agreed work time schedules
  • The ability to maintain and document all Design Office materials to stipulated Company Procedures and Standards
  • A proven knowledge and understanding of manufacturing bills of materials at multiple levels is essential, as is the ability to identify BoM cost reduction opportunities without compromising end design or performance results
  • Must be prepared to mentor and share their knowledge with other team members
  • Experience of the following is not essential but could help to support an application: Data loggers (Eurotherm), Machinery directive, Low Voltage Directive (LVD), EMC Testing, ATEX Equipment, CE
  • The ideal candidate will hold a Batchelors Degree equivalent or higher qualifications
  • Ability to work as a Design Team within a small and growing private company, liaising with other departmental teams up to and including Director level

The role is predominantly office based in Hailsham, East Sussex but may involve some UK travel and short overseas visits in support of our worldwide customer base

SENIOR SYSTEMS INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER (SKILLED) 

 

Phoenix Scientific Industries Ltd (PSI) is an established leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke advance process plant equipment used in the scientific advanced material development industries worldwide. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced skilled engineer to join our highly skilled engineering team within the manufacturing facility. 

Job Specification

In order to support our product infrastructure services, we are now looking for full-time skilled Systems Mechanical Engineer that ideally has a practical experience with maintaining and supporting production equipment combined with the ability to assemble and disassemble components using methodical, diligent processes and engineering techniques. 

The successful candidate will 

  • Will need to work using own skills and initiative using skilled engineering techniques and procedures together with recognition and awareness of current HSE Regulations
  • Minimum Qualification standards: – Mechanical Engineering HNC / BTEC or similar with a minimum 3+ years industrial experience
  • Ideally from an engineering background with a strong mechanical bias with some understanding of electrical control systems, vacuum, water cooling, pneumatic systems
  • Part of a small team working within a safe modern working environment
  • Opportunity for ‘fast track’ progression to a supervisory position within this expanding UK privately owned company

SYSTEMS ENGINEER (SKILLED/SEMI-SKILLED)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced skilled engineer to join our highly skilled engineering team within the manufacturing facility. 

Job Specification

This role would be suited to a keen enthusiastic individual that is looking for an opportunity in career advancement in a multi-disciplined, engineering systems build environment. The ideal candidate will typically be from a mechanical or maintenance engineering background.

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Work with their own skills and initiative using skilled engineering techniques and procedures together with recognition and awareness of current HSE safe working Regulations 
  • Minimum Qualification standards: – Mechanical Engineering BTEC Advanced or similar 
  • Ideally from an engineering/maintenance background with a strong mechanical bias with some understanding of  vacuum, water cooling pipework, pneumatic systems within both sub-assemblies and large assembly builds would be an advatage
  • Part of a small team working within a safe modern working environment
  • Assist with sub system bench build and equipment tests, including configuration and calibration
  • Experienced in setting and using manual lathe and milling machines
  • General erection and disassembly of process plant equipment
  • Training given within specific specialist areas if required
